Anti-Wrinkle Injections for Men in Vancouver
Anti-wrinkle injections planned for men
More men are choosing anti-wrinkle injections to look less tired, less stressed and more like themselves, without anyone being able to tell they have had anything done. Dr. McInnes plans treatment for male patients around a natural, masculine result: softening the lines that make you look angry or worn out while keeping normal movement and expression.
Anti-wrinkle injections are a prescription neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes the specific muscles that create expression lines. For a full overview of how the treatment works and the other ways it is used, see our main anti-wrinkle injections and neuromodulators page.
Areas men most often ask about include:
- Forehead lines
- Frown lines between the eyebrows (the “11s”)
- Crow’s feet at the sides of the eyes
- Neck bands that become more visible with age
Why treatment for men is planned differently
Stronger facial muscles: Men often have larger, stronger muscles of facial expression than women, particularly in the forehead and between the brows. This can mean a different dose and different injection points are needed to soften lines effectively. Your treatment plan is based on how your own muscles move, not a standard template.

Keeping a masculine brow: A man’s brow typically sits lower and flatter than a woman’s. Injection technique that works well for women can lift or arch the brow, which tends to look out of place on a male face. Dr. McInnes places injections to keep the brow position natural for men, so you look refreshed rather than surprised.
A natural, low-key result: Most men want to look rested, not “done.” Treatment can be kept conservative and adjusted at follow-up so that expression is preserved.
Other reasons men book anti-wrinkle injections
Jaw clenching and teeth grinding: Injections into the masseter (jaw) muscles may help reduce the strain of clenching and night-time grinding, and can soften a bulky jawline over time.
Excessive underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis): Anti-wrinkle injections can reduce sweating in the underarms and other areas such as the palms or feet.
Alongside surgery: For men considering a more lasting change to the face and neck, injections are often discussed together with a face and neck lift for men. See all of our procedures for men.
What to expect at your appointment
Your visit starts with a short assessment of how your face moves at rest and with expression. Dr. McInnes does all of his own injections. A numbing cream and a fine needle are used to keep discomfort to a minimum, and most men return to work the same day. Results build gradually, with the full effect usually seen in 7 to 14 days.
How long do results last for men?
Results typically last 3 to 6 months. Because men’s facial muscles are often stronger, some men find their results wear off toward the shorter end of that range. Many patients find results last progressively longer with regular treatments.
Why have a plastic surgeon do your injections?
A board-certified plastic surgeon works with the facial muscles directly during surgery, which gives a detailed understanding of facial anatomy and of how male and female faces differ. Dr. McInnes learned his injection technique in Beverly Hills, California, from a high-volume surgeon, and performs every injection himself.
Risks
Anti-wrinkle injections do not have a readily available reversal agent. Incorrect placement or too high a dose can cause temporary side effects such as a drooping eyelid (eyelid ptosis), a heavy or drooping brow (eyebrow ptosis) or dry eye. Careful placement is especially important in men, where a heavy brow is a common concern.
Please download the consent form designed by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) for a detailed list and description of the risks involved (found here). Risks will be discussed before you give consent. It is important to address all of your questions directly with Dr. McInnes.
